Meet Elliot Powell

For over 20 years, I've been capturing authentic moments across Chicagoland—from corporate events to family portraits and beyond.

For over 20 years, I've been capturing authentic moments across Chicagoland—from corporate events to family portraits and beyond.

I love organic moments, the unscripted interactions that make an event come alive, but I'm equally comfortable creating polished, posed shots when that's what you need. My philosophy is that great photography should reveal who you really are or capture what actually happened, not some staged version of it.

Versatility You Can Count On

While my portfolio highlights portraits, events, and editorial work, my experience spans much more. From real estate photography to product shots, corporate headshots to family celebrations, I adapt my approach to whatever your project needs. If you have a photography challenge, chances are I've tackled something similar, and I'm always excited to take on new types of work.

What People Say

One thing I hear consistently from clients is that I'm easy to work with. I think that comes from genuinely enjoying what I do. Whether I'm photographing a child's birthday party or a corporate executive's headshot, I bring the same enthusiasm and attention to detail. Photography is about people, and I love connecting with the people I photograph.

Working with a Team

For larger projects that require multiple photographers, I work with a trusted network of professionals who share the same values and approach. They're skilled, personable, and committed to delivering the same quality you'd expect from me. When your event needs more than one photographer, you can rest assured that the entire team will bring the same professionalism and friendly demeanor.

Community & Clients

Beyond client work, I serve as VP of the board and lead photographer for Creative Mornings Chicago, a monthly gathering for the creative community.

I've had the privilege of working with diverse clients including Girls4Science, Real Producers magazine, the Auditorium Theatre, Northwestern University's Black Arts Consortium, and Chase Bank, among many others.

The Legacy

Photography runs in my family. My father has been a professional photographer for over 55 years, and he was trained by John Tweedle, a favorite photographer of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. That lineage taught me that photography isn't just about technical skill. It's about capturing moments that matter and telling stories that need to be told.

Let's Work Together

I'm always open to new projects. Whether you need event coverage, portraits, corporate photography, or something completely unique, I'd love to hear about it.
